4C14 Recap

This section includes an archive of the pages from our 4C4E initiative for 4C14 in Indianapolis, Indiana. The first year of the initiative addressed the Indiana legislative action surrounding HJR-3.

This proposed amendment stated:

Only a marriage between one (1) man and one (1) woman shall be valid or recognized as a marriage in Indiana.

Although same-sex marriage has been illegal in Indiana since the 1990s, HJR-3 aimed to make it doubly so by adding it to the state constitution. As of early spring 2014, the bill passed but did not appear on the voting ballot for the fall 2014 election cycle.

On June 25, 2014, a federal judge threw out the Indiana ban on same-sex marriages. Our Twitter feed chronicles some of the developments concerning gay marriage in Indiana.
